Etobicoke Hardwood Floor & Staircase Renovation
About this Etobicoke hardwood floor and staircase renovation
This Etobicoke hardwood floor and staircase renovation reworked two of the most visible surfaces in the home so they would read as one cohesive design. The owners wanted the warmth and character of solid hardwood throughout the main floor, plus a staircase that matched the new flooring instead of standing apart from it. Treating the floor and staircase as a single project — rather than two separate trades — produced the seamless transition between them that defines the finished space.
We started by removing the existing flooring and inspecting the subfloor for level and squeak. Once the subfloor was prepared, we installed high-quality solid hardwood with consistent grain matching across the main living areas. The staircase was then stripped and stained to match the floor, with treads and risers finished in the same hardwood tone. The transition where the floor meets the first stair tread is fully flush, with no visible gap or change in tone — a finishing detail that takes deliberate planning across both trades.
The staircase upgrade includes a refinished handrail, new posts, and sleek balusters that suit the cleaner, more modern feel of the rest of the home. Careful sanding and multiple coats of protective finish ensure the staircase will hold up to daily traffic. The combined floor-and-staircase project creates a timeless look across the main floor of the home, with the kind of unified warmth that is hard to achieve when flooring and stairs are renovated as separate jobs.
