Burlington homes span seventy years. The renovation changes with them.

A 1950s bungalow in Aldershot and a 2010 detached in Alton Village are both Burlington, and they are completely different renovations. South of the QEW you find post-war bungalows and mid-century two-storeys in Roseland and Shoreacres, with plaster, older wiring, and kitchens closed off from the rest of the house. North of the QEW, Millcroft, Headon Forest, and the Orchard are 1980s to 2000s subdivisions due for a full refresh. Burlington is inside our regular service area, 25 to 40 minutes from our Mississauga shop, with no travel surcharge.

Burlington neighbourhoods and what we find there

  • Home Renovation in Aldershot

Post-war bungalows and older detached homes on large lots. Kitchen-and-living walls are often load-bearing; we confirm with an engineer before quoting an open concept.

  • Home Renovation in Roseland & Shoreacres

Mid-century and older homes near the lake, many on mature lots. Expect plaster walls, original hardwood worth refinishing, and electrical panels that need upgrading for a modern kitchen.

  • Home Renovation in Millcroft & Headon Forest

1980s and 1990s two-storeys, often with the original oak kitchen and builder ensuite. A typical scope is a full kitchen, two bathrooms, and hardwood throughout the main floor.

  • Home Renovation in The Orchard & Alton Village

Late-1990s to 2010s subdivisions. Main-floor open-concept work, staircase upgrades, and basement finishing are the usual requests.

Home Renovation questions - Burlington

How much does a home renovation cost in Burlington?
Whole-home renovations are quoted at $80–$150/sq. ft.. Inside that, a kitchen typically runs $25,000–$50,000 and a bathroom $12,000–$20,000. Structural work, such as a beam for an open concept, and second units are priced as separate lines so you can see what each decision costs.
How long does a home renovation take in Burlington?
A kitchen takes three to five weeks and a bathroom two to four. A whole-home renovation runs eight to fourteen weeks of construction depending on size and scope. Where walls or plumbing move, City of Burlington Building and By-law permit review adds time up front, which we include in the schedule.
Do I need a building permit in Burlington?
Yes when a wall is removed or moved, plumbing is relocated or added, new electrical circuits go in, or a basement is finished with a bathroom or a separate unit. Like-for-like replacements in the same positions usually do not need a building permit, though electrical work still goes through ESA. We prepare drawings, file with City of Burlington Building and By-law, and book every inspection.
Do you have a travel surcharge for Burlington?
No. Burlington sits inside our regular service area with Oakville and Milton, 25 to 40 minutes from our Mississauga shop depending on the QEW and the 407.
Can I open up the main floor of my Aldershot bungalow?
Usually, but the wall between the kitchen and living room in many post-war bungalows carries the ceiling joists. Removing it means a beam, an engineer's drawing, and a City of Burlington building permit. We price that structural work as a separate line so you can see exactly what the open concept costs.
