How this bathroom came together
A modern bathroom remodel in Midtown Toronto
This Midtown Toronto modern bathroom remodel was completed as part of a full penthouse renovation in the same unit, but the bathroom warranted a project page of its own because of the level of custom detailing inside the space. The owners wanted a primary bathroom that would feel like a private retreat — quieter, warmer, and more luxurious than the rest of the home — while still belonging to the same overall design language used throughout the penthouse.
The work
The bathroom was rebuilt around a custom-designed built-in vanity sized exactly to the wall it sits against, with integrated storage and a coordinated countertop. The wet zone is finished in marble-look porcelain tile, which keeps the visual softness of natural marble without the maintenance, and runs continuously through the walk-in shower. The shower itself includes an integrated bench for comfort and a recessed shower niche for storage, both tiled in matching porcelain so they read as part of the wall rather than added-on features.
The result
A coordinating powder room elsewhere in the penthouse was upgraded to match the elevated aesthetic of the primary bathroom. The powder room features art deco wallpaper as a statement surface, brass fixtures and hardware that warm the room, and herringbone floors that echo the chevron pattern used in the rest of the unit. Treating both bathrooms as part of one project ensures the refined aesthetic carries through the whole home — the level of finish is consistent regardless of which bathroom a guest happens to use.
