Pickering is the Durham kitchen that prices closest to our usual range

Pickering is the shortest Durham drive from Mississauga, 45 to 65 minutes on the 401. We still quote it case by case, with the commute in the proposal. Bay Ridges is 1960s and 1970s bungalows and two-storeys with closed kitchens. Amberlea, Liverpool, and Brock Ridge are 1980s and 1990s two-storeys with builder cabinets. Duffin Heights is new enough that the work is finishes, not structure.

Pickering neighbourhoods and what we find there

  • Kitchen Renovation in Bay Ridges

1960s and 1970s houses near Frenchman's Bay. Kitchens at the back of the plan, opened when the joists allow.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Amberlea, Liverpool & Brock Ridge

1980s and 1990s detached homes. Full cabinet rebuilds and, where the dining room is unused, a layout change.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Rosebank

Older homes on larger lots near the Rouge. Main-floor kitchens with more surprises in the walls than the 1990s stock.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Duffin Heights

Newer houses. Cabinets, counters, and lighting. The plumbing is already where a modern kitchen wants it.

Kitchen Renovation questions - Pickering

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Pickering?
A kitchen renovation in Pickering runs $25,000–$50,000. A cabinet-and-counter refresh in the existing footprint starts around $18,000. A full rebuild that moves the sink and needs a permit lands at the top of that range. Projects above $50,000 are typically beyond our usual scope. Opening a load-bearing wall is a separate line, usually $15,000–$35,000. For Pickering, the commute is built into the quote rather than billed as a travel fee.
How long does a kitchen renovation take in Pickering?
A cabinet-and-counter refresh takes 2–3 weeks. A full rebuild in the same footprint takes 3–4 weeks, and a layout change that moves the sink takes 4–5 weeks. When plumbing or a wall moves, City of Pickering Building Services permit review adds time before demolition, and we put that in the schedule.
Do I need a building permit in Pickering?
Yes when a wall is removed or moved, plumbing is relocated or added, new electrical circuits go in, or a basement is finished with a bathroom or a separate unit. Like-for-like replacements in the same positions usually do not need a building permit, though electrical work still goes through ESA. We prepare drawings, file with City of Pickering Building Services, and book every inspection.
Is Pickering inside your regular area?
It is the closest Durham city, and we take the work, but it is still quoted case by case. The drive is 45 to 65 minutes and it is written into the proposal. A full kitchen is the scope that makes that drive sensible.
Which Durham kitchens do you take?
Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa, on the same case-by-case basis. Pickering is the shortest drive. Oshawa is the longest, and a small kitchen there often does not price well against a contractor based in Durham.
