Oshawa is the far end of the drive. A full kitchen can still make sense.

Oshawa is 60 to 80 minutes from our Mississauga shop, the furthest Durham city we take. We quote it case by case. A full kitchen, or a kitchen with the rest of the main floor, is the scope that prices sensibly. A single small room usually does not. McLaughlin and central Oshawa are pre-war and post-war houses with cast-iron and older wiring behind the sink cabinet. Samac and Eastdale are 1970s to 1990s. Windfields is post-2005 builder stock.

Oshawa neighbourhoods and what we find there

  • Kitchen Renovation in McLaughlin & central Oshawa

Older houses near downtown. Expect supply lines and wiring that are not on the drawing. We price that discovery before cabinets are ordered.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Samac & Eastdale

1970s to 1990s detached homes and semis. Kitchens opened to the living room, with a City of Oshawa permit when the wall is structural.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Windfields & north Taunton

Post-2005 subdivisions. Builder cabinets and laminate. Few surprises in the walls, which keeps the quote tighter.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Donevan

Post-war bungalows and split-levels in the south. Closed kitchens and original plumbing at the sink.

Kitchen Renovation questions - Oshawa

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Oshawa?
A kitchen renovation in Oshawa runs $25,000–$50,000. A cabinet-and-counter refresh in the existing footprint starts around $18,000. A full rebuild that moves the sink and needs a permit lands at the top of that range. Projects above $50,000 are typically beyond our usual scope. Opening a load-bearing wall is a separate line, usually $15,000–$35,000. For Oshawa, the commute is built into the quote rather than billed as a travel fee.
How long does a kitchen renovation take in Oshawa?
A cabinet-and-counter refresh takes 2–3 weeks. A full rebuild in the same footprint takes 3–4 weeks, and a layout change that moves the sink takes 4–5 weeks. When plumbing or a wall moves, City of Oshawa Building Services permit review adds time before demolition, and we put that in the schedule.
Do I need a building permit in Oshawa?
Yes when a wall is removed or moved, plumbing is relocated or added, new electrical circuits go in, or a basement is finished with a bathroom or a separate unit. Like-for-like replacements in the same positions usually do not need a building permit, though electrical work still goes through ESA. We prepare drawings, file with City of Oshawa Building Services, and book every inspection.
Do you actually take work in Oshawa?
Yes, but plainly: Oshawa is outside our regular no-surcharge area. The shop is in Mississauga, 60 to 80 minutes away on the 401. We quote Durham work case by case and build the commute into the proposal. A full kitchen usually prices sensibly. A small refresh usually does not, and we will say so before booking a visit.
Do I need a City of Oshawa permit for a kitchen?
Yes when a wall moves, the sink is relocated, or new circuits are added. Cabinets and counters in the same positions usually do not need a building permit. We file with the City of Oshawa and book inspections when the scope needs them.
