Kitchen Renovationin Milton

Old Milton · Hawthorne Village · Beaty · Dempsey · Willmott

Most Milton kitchens are the builder package from 2005, not a century house

Hawthorne Village, Dempsey, Beaty, and Willmott were built after 2000 with laminate counters, a short run of cabinets, and one light in the middle of the ceiling. That is a cleaner kitchen rebuild than an old house: the plumbing is modern and the walls are drywall. Old Milton and Timberlea are the exception — plaster, older wiring, and kitchens closed off from the living room. Milton is 15 to 25 minutes from our shop, with no travel surcharge.

Milton neighbourhoods and what we find there

  • Kitchen Renovation in Hawthorne Village & Dempsey

Early-2000s builder kitchens now twenty years old. Cabinets, quartz, a backsplash, and lighting. Layout changes are optional, not required to make the room work.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Beaty & Willmott

2000s and 2010s detached homes and towns. The builder island is often too small. A new island in the same kitchen is a layout change and may need a permit if the sink moves onto it.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Old Milton

Brick and century houses on Martin and Mill. Plaster, and electrical that we price before we order cabinets.

  • Kitchen Renovation in Timberlea

1970s and 1980s side-splits. Kitchens walled off from the living room — a beam and a Town of Milton permit if that wall comes out.

Kitchen Renovation questions - Milton

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Milton?
A kitchen renovation in Milton runs $25,000–$50,000. A cabinet-and-counter refresh in the existing footprint starts around $18,000. A full rebuild that moves the sink and needs a permit lands at the top of that range. Projects above $50,000 are typically beyond our usual scope. Opening a load-bearing wall is a separate line, usually $15,000–$35,000.
How long does a kitchen renovation take in Milton?
A cabinet-and-counter refresh takes 2–3 weeks. A full rebuild in the same footprint takes 3–4 weeks, and a layout change that moves the sink takes 4–5 weeks. When plumbing or a wall moves, Town of Milton Building Services permit review adds time before demolition, and we put that in the schedule.
Do I need a building permit in Milton?
Yes when a wall is removed or moved, plumbing is relocated or added, new electrical circuits go in, or a basement is finished with a bathroom or a separate unit. Like-for-like replacements in the same positions usually do not need a building permit, though electrical work still goes through ESA. We prepare drawings, file with Town of Milton Building Services, and book every inspection.
Do you charge extra to work in Milton?
Milton is 15 to 25 minutes from our Mississauga shop via the 401 or the 407. Where we call the area regular, there is no travel surcharge. Where we quote case by case, the commute is a line inside the proposal, not a fee added after you sign.
My Milton house is only 15 years old. Is a new kitchen worth it?
Often, yes, because the builder package cut the same corners in that era: laminate counters, a shallow cabinet run, and almost no task lighting. The house around it is usually sound, so the kitchen is a finish job rather than a surprise behind the walls.
